Two-day international Urdu conference in April
The Telangana State Urdu Academy will host a two-day international Urdu conference in April this year in the city.
Moulana Mohammed Raheemuddin Ansari, president, Telangana Urdu academy, said that a committee will soon be formed to look into the process pertaining to the invitation of delegates from different countries. "The conference will be organised in the last week of April" said Ansari.
The academy is also planning to introduce an Urdu learning app for young and innovative minds to promote the language and make it easy.
Ansari told TOI that the academy had computer centres and libraries which were handed over to Minority Finance Corporation so that they can be run smoothly, but many of the centres that were established were shut and all possible efforts are being made to take them back and reopen them.
"We have taken up the matter with officials concerned. Last time, we had set up almost 40 computer centres, however, now only 10 are functioning as the rest of them have been shut,” the president said.
The academy has said that the lifetime achievement awards will be presented in six categories including poetry, criticism, research and promotion of Urdu and journalism.
