Urdu Academy’s functioning, its schemes & projects are meant for the promotion & protection of Urdu Language & Literature.
Urdu Academy has a wide range of literary schemes such as publication of a monthly magazine 'Qaumi Zaban', extending financial assistance for holding Seminars, Mushairas etc., to Urdu Organizations and agencies; and publication of Urdu Manuscripts written by Urdu Poets, Writers and Linguists.
Following are the details of Schemes & Awards.

The Telangana State Urdu Academy is printing Urdu Monthly Magazine as "Qaumi Zaban" with ISSN No: 2321-4627 and RNI Regd. No: TELURD/2015/32622, for Promotion/Protection of Urdu Language and Literature. This magazine is literary comprising articles of all India Scholars. The selling price of magazine is fixed for Rs.15/- (Rupees Fifteen only) and Rs.150/- (Rupees One hundred fifty only) as Annual Subscription. The Telangana State Urdu Academy is awarding Moulana Abul Kalam Azad National Award, every year on 11th November i.e. on the occasion of Birth Anniversary of Moulana Abul Kalam Azad, the First Education Minister of Independent India, under the scheme of Promotion and Preservation of Urdu Language and Literature. This Award is presented to the eminent Urdu Poet, Scholar, Journalist, Fiction Writer, Social Worker or eminent person working for development of Urdu Language / Literature or Welfare of Minorities, selected by the Committee constituted. This Award consist on cash prize of Rs.1,25,000/- (Rupees one lakh twenty five thousand only) along with Memento and Certificate of accreditation. The amount of award is enhanced to Rs.2,25,000/- (Rupees two lakh twenty five thousand only) during the year 2017-18. The awardees of Moulana Abul Kalam Azad National Award during last four years are mentioned at a separate page. The Urdu Academy is also giving "Maqdoom Award" every year to the best Poets and Writers of Prose and Poetry, selected by the Committee constituted. This Award consists on cash prize of Rs.1.00 lakh along with a Memento and Certificate of accreditation. The cash prize of Maqdoom Award is enhanced to Rs.2.00 lakhs (Rupees two lakh only) during the year 2017-18. The awardees of Maqdoom Award are mentioned at a separate page. The Books printed on Prose, Poetry, History, Fiction, Research, Journalism etc. by eminent Poets, Scholars, Writers, Journalist, Orators etc. are also awarded as "Life Time Achievement Award" every year, selected by the Committee constituted. This Award consists on cash prize of Rs.25,000/- (Rupees twenty five thousand only) along with a Memento and Certificate of accreditation. The cash prize of Life Time Achievement Award is enhanced to Rs.50,000/- (Rupees fifty thousand only) during the year 2017-18. The awardees of Life Time Achievement Award are mentioned at a separate page. The Telangana State Urdu Academy is awarding Best Urdu Teacher Award to the Best Urdu Teachers of Primary/Upper Primary/High School/University/Calligraphy of every District on 11th November every year i.e. on the occasion of Birth Anniversary of Moulana Abul Kalam Azad, the First Education Minister of Independent India. This Award consist on a cash prize of Rs.10,000/- (Rupees Ten thousand only) each, along with a Shawl, Memento and Certificate of accreditation. The Telangana State Urdu Academy is awarding Best Urdu Student Award to the topper of S.S.C. on 11th November every year i.e. on the occasion of Birth Anniversary of Moulana Abul Kalam Azad, the First Education Minister of Independent India. This Award consist on a cash prize of Rs.3,000/- (Rupees Three thousand only) each, along with a Shawl, Memento and Certificate of accreditation. The cash prize of Best Urdu Student Award is enhanced to Rs.10,000/- (Rupees ten thousand only) during the year 2017-18. Awards on Printed Urdu Books are presented once in a year on the books selected from different topics such as Research, Fiction and History etc. to the Writers of the Book, selected by the Committee constituted. Financial Aid is being granted for publication of Urdu Manuscripts every month to the Writers of Prose, Poetry, History, Fiction, Research and Journalism etc. The quantum of Financial Aid for Printing of Urdu Manuscript is mentioned at a separate page. Financial Aid is being sanctioned to Urdu Libraries in the shape of Books as per their requirements to facilitate the readers / visitors. /table/ Financial Assistance of Rs.5,000.00 (Rupees Five thousand only) is being sanctioned once in a year through notification to the Small Urdu Daily/Weekly/ Fortnightly/Monthly Newspapers, having valid RNI number in Telangana State. The Urdu Writers and Journalists are being granted Financial Aid to meet the expenses of their Medical treatment as per exigencies, but not more than twice in a year. The quantum of amount is depended on treatment. The financial aid extended to Urdu Writers and Journalists during the last four years is as detailed below:
/table/ Financial Aid is being granted for Printing of Rare Urdu Books comprising on Prose, Poetry, Fiction, History, Research and Journalism etc. The Telangana State Urdu Academy is also under taken printing of Urdu Medium Text Books for Intermediate and Degree subjects. The Telangana State Urdu Academy is also extending financial assistance of Rs.50,000.00 (Rupees fifty thousand only) to each Urdu Medium Government/Aided Primary, Upper Primary and High School for Infrastructure facilities. Financial Aid is being sanctioned to Small Urdu News Papers, Urdu Magazines, Urdu Journals, Urdu Weeklies and Urdu Fortnightlies for un-interrupted printing / publishing. The financial aid extended to Urdu Periodicals during last four years is as noted here under:
/table/ Financial Aid is being sanctioned for conduct of Urdu Mushairas, Seminars & Symposiums on the special occasions by Telangana State Urdu Academy. Financial Aid is also extended to other institutions for conduct of Urdu Mushairas, Seminars & Symposiums on the occasions i.e. Telangana Formation Day, Moulana Abul Kalam Azad Birth Anniversary etc. The financial aid granted for conduct of Mushairas, Seminars, Symposiums and Cultural Programs by other institutions during the last four years is as noted here under:
/table/ Financial Aid is being granted to Voluntary Organizations for conduct of Urdu Teaching & Learning Programs under Summer Camps as per their requirements. Financial assistance is being sanctioned to Urdu News Agencies i.e. Print and Electronic Media once in a year through notification. Rs.6,000/- (Rupees Six thousand only) to the News Reporters and Rs.8,000/- (Rupees Eight thousand only) to T.V. Channel Reporters will be sanctioned towards Grant-in-Aid. Financial aid is also sanctioned to Small Urdu News Papers, Magazines, Journals, Fortnightlies and Weeklies etc. in the shape of advertisement of Minorities Welfare Schemes, Mushairas, Seminars and Symposiums etc. Financial aid is also extended to the reporters of Urdu Electronic Channels and Urdu Cable T.Vs. to meet their un-foreseen expenses. Calendars and Diaries are being printed in Urdu by Telangana State Urdu Academy every year. Broachers and Banners are also printed by the Telangana State Urdu Academy on special occasions i.e. Telangana Formation Day, Moulana Abul Kalam Azad Birthday etc. Grant-in-aid is being sanctioned to Urdu Voluntary Organizations for the purpose of preservation and promotion of Urdu Language and Literature. /table/ Sales Counter is being installed at All India Industrial Exhibition every year by Telangana State Urdu Academy for sales promotion of Urdu Rare Books and Books written by eminent Scholars, Poets, Scientists on History, Novel, Sonnet, Research, Fiction and Medicine etc. Under this scheme, financial assistance is being sanctioned by the Government and released by Telangana State Urdu Academy for construction and renovation of Urdu Ghar-cum-Shadikhanas in Telangana State.
